Oppo Releases the A15 to Aussies. They just announced their latest budget phone The Oppo A15. This is an entry level phone and one that continues the A Series in value. This is a great way to start 2021 and Oppo is proud to continue to push it’s mantra of usability, durability and affordability.
This phone is very light on the wallet however the specs would suggest otherwise. Starting at the camera we get a triple camera set up with a 13mp sensor, a 2mp macro lens and a 2mp depth sensor. Enough pounch to get pics to share with friends and family via the social media landscape. The rear camera also gives you 1080p video recording. The 13mp sensor also offers a 2.2 aperture to give you some out of focus backgrounds for portraits. The front facing camera has a simple yet useful 5mp lens and offers AI beautification mode, hdr affect and portrait bokeh.
Some features the competition are not offering are
- Headphone jack
- Expandable storage
- Fingerprint scanner on the back
- Super night time standby feature
- Less that 8mm thick
These are all key features that are hard to find in a $239 phone. To compliment the features we have 3GB ram and 32GB storage, a great looking 6.5 inch display which is plenty big enough to watch your favourite content on whether it’s youtube, netflix or amazon prime. This display comes in with 60hz which is expected at this price point. All this is complimented by the chassis that weighs 175g and comes in 2 colours mystery blue or Dynamic black. I love the mystery blue.
For software you get the colorOS version 7.2 which is based on Android 10. ColorOS is it’s own beast these days and works well in the modern environment. This is powered by a mediatek processor and coupled with the hardware offers a pleasing experience of performance and day to day gaming with games in light graphics settings. The Oppo A15 is going to offer you reliability.
The battery is boasting 4230mAh and comes with 10w charging ability and Oppo claims an impressive 16 hours of watching media before needing to charge. As mentioned earlier you also get some impressive battery saving management through “super standby feature” to help with background battery consumption while you’re sleeping.
The Oppo A15 comes with alot of value for the little price and if i had to choose a couple of areas to improve it would be
- Micro USB
- Change the display from 720p to 1080p
However with the price so low it’s hard to complain about this. This is considered Entry Level but could also be for the non tech person who needs a phone because it’s the way of the world, a first phone for a school student. Especially for those weird helicopter parents (not judging). Or a share phone for the workplace where battery life and a phone calls are the main use.
The Oppo A15 is available on the 28/01/2021 from the following suppliers JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths, Mobileciti, Amazon, The Good Guys (online) and Office Works to name a few.
